La Vida Felicidad provides respite services at no cost to families, for eligible children.

This gives a temporary break to the parent or caregiver who is responsible for caring for a child with developmental disabilities or delays, so that they can rest, take a break, run errands or plan other activities.

Children are eligible for respite services from La Vida Felicidad if any of the following apply:

  • The child already participates in or is eligible for La Vida Felicidad’s Early Intervention Services
  • Respite is identified as a service in the family’s Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP).
  • Caregivers of a child age 3 years through 21 may also be eligible for respite services if the child is considered to be developmentally disabled according to DDSD Policy or meet the Public School system’s special education requirements.

Respite Services

Respite is a flexible family support service intended to provide relief, relaxation, and peace of mind for primary caregivers of children with developmental delays or disabilities.  Whether an afternoon or a weekend, this short-term care allows families time for themselves, while the child enjoys favorite activities with the trained caregiver.

Services can occur in the caregiver’s home, the family home, or in the community.  Our main goal with respite services is to provide relief to the child’s parent or guardian. Respite is a flexible service and may be provided for emergencies or on an occasional or regular basis.
