FACILITIES WORKER

POSITION SUMMARY: The Facilities Worker will be responsible for performing repairs, maintenance, and general operations for all La Vida Felicidad facilities and vehicles.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Daily job responsibilities/functions to include, but not limited to:

  • Completes daily opening procedures of Los Lunas facilities.
  • Examines buildings on a regular basis for needed repairs, maintenance, and cleanliness.
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, sanitizing common areas, restrooms and kitchen facilities.
  • Restock supplies such as hand soap, paper towels, toilet paper as needed.
  • Empty trash bins and recycling containers regularly.
  • Performs general maintenance work for grounds and buildings.
  • Clear snow and ice from walkways and parking areas during inclement weather.
  • Monitor the condition of outdoor areas, including playground equipment and report any maintenance needs to management.
  • Completion of interior and exterior painting as approved.
  • Performs routine plumbing repairs such as unstopping toilets, sinks, fixing water leaks, leaking faucets, and water fountains.
  • Performs routine electrical repairs such as changing light bulbs or fluorescent lamps and assists in repairing ballast and light fixtures.
  • Assembles and moves furniture, hangs pictures and bulletin boards, etc.
  • Assist with setup and breakdown of equipment, meeting space areas for events and meetings.
  • Performs emergency repair services, as necessary.
  • Completes routine maintenance of satellite offices.
  • Routinely provide on-site support to all satellite offices.
  • Performs monthly vehicle inspections in accordance with Department of Transportation regulations.
  • Assists with Kitchen Program supply order pick-up and delivery on an as needed basis.
  • Responsible for fueling agency vehicles as needed.
  • Performs preventative maintenance for vehicles.
  • Back-up to Facilities Supervisor for after-hours alarm calls.
  • Member of the Health & Safety Committee
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols to maintain a secure work environment.
  • Monitor and address any safety hazards, such as slippery floors or damaged equipment, in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with Facilities Supervisor to implement security measures and respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Provides support on La Vida special events and fundraising initiatives.
  • Must maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, LVF policy and state and federal law.

  • Must be creative and flexible in order to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities.
  • Prioritize and complete tasks in a timely fashion.
  • Requires effective oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Facilities Supervisor, Director of Finance & Administration, or Executive Director

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Requirements

High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the basic techniques of repair and maintenance, carpentry, and ground maintenance.
  • Ability to problem solve and recognize need for immediate repairs.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • Skill in using hand and power tools.
  • Must be reliable and dependable, ability to work independently and complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with La Vida personnel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • OSHA trained (preferred) but will provide on-the-job training.

  • The physical environment requires the employee to work in all types of weather conditions. Some noise and interruptions are present.
  • Must be able to manipulate and operate maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, walk, lift heavy objects (up to fifty pounds)
  • May require need for flexible schedules, including occasional evening and weekend work.
  • An automobile at his/her disposal; a valid, non-suspended NM driver’s license and a current automobile liability policy and continuous coverage
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check.
  • No substantiation or criminal conviction of child abuse or neglect
  • Travel within the state may be required.
  • Wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment at all times.
