POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for evaluation/assessment; consultation to family and early intervention team and monitoring of development with a focus on language, articulation, voice, fluency, feeding and oral motor intervention. Responsible for individual compliance under Family Infant Toddler (FIT), federal and state regulations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Participate in the initial and ongoing assessment/evaluation of the child’s overall development; complete additional assessments/evaluations with a focus on communication development as needed; participate and provide assessment/evaluation reports in a timely manner.
- Together with the family and early intervention team, plan services to support the child’s communication skills which can include but is not limited to: cognitive and social foundations of language, articulation, voice, fluency, feeding and oral motor skills.
- Provide direct on-going services for speech and/or language therapy. Provide consultation with the child’s physician (s), with feeding clinics, and the Early Childhood Evaluation Program as needed.
- Maintain records of contacts with the family and child, progress towards individual outcomes, and periodic re-evaluation of progress according to FIT requirements.
- Participate in Trans-disciplinary Teaming to achieve service integration by working collaboratively and consulting with other disciplines.
- Serve as Team Lead when identified as such on the Individualized Family Service Plan ( IFSP)
- Participate in consultation with other IFSP team members in order to promote alignment of strategies, a coordinated approach to services, collaboration and co-visits with members of the team.
- Maintain compliance with training requirements as identified by the NM Family Infant Toddler Program (FIT)
- Must maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, LVF policy and state and federal law
OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attend agency meetings as directed
- Attend early intervention staff meetings as directed
- Perform all other duties as assigned by Director of Early Childhood Services
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly supervises Speech-Language Pathology students when assigned by university programs
ROLE QUALIFICATIONS
Education Requirements
- Minimum of a Master’s degree or higher in Speech-Language Therapy, from an accredited program, with a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) or under the supervision of a certified SLP. Licensure by the state of New Mexico.
Experience Requirements
- Experience working with children 0-3 years of age is preferred.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Requires current knowledge of principles and practices of Speech-Language Therapy
- Must maintain training and/or educational requirements per regulations
- Maintains professional leadership role for clients, families, team and community
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team
- English/Spanish bilingual a plus
- Ability to prioritize and complete tasks in timely fashion
- Requires effective oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills

An automobile at his/her disposal; a valid, non-suspended NM driver’s license and a current automobile liability policy and continuous coverage

- Travel within Valencia and Cibola Counties is required
- Travel within the state and out-of-state may be required
